Bucket list of things to do in Lausanne!

Interested in visiting the prettiest streets of Lausanne, discovering our museums, eating in the best places? The Olympic Capital is full of interesting activities to do with friends, family or colleagues whether it be a sunny or rainy day. SportWorks has prepraed the following selection of some of the best activities in the area to inspire you!

N1 : The Cathedral of Lausanne

The cathedral of Lausanne was constructed during the 13th century and was consecrated in 1275. Located in the old town of Lausanne called La Cité, where she overlooks the city. Considered as one of the most beautiful monuments of Gothic art in Europe, the Cathedral attracts more than 400,000 visitors each year.

To join the monument we advise you to go for a walk from the lovely Place de la Palud. From here you can enjoy every Wednesday and Saturday a small marché "campagnard" of fruits and vegetables. Sitting around the fountain you can contemplate the wall clock that tells the history of the Canton de Vaud every hour from 9am to 7pm.

From the fountain, take the little wooden stairs linking Place de la Palud to the Esplanade de la Cathédrale. This is for sure the most charming walk in the Old Town and one of the hardest ones as well!

N2: Olympic Museum & Tom Café

Lausanne is the home city of the IOC (International Olympic Comittee). The City is very proud of being called the Olympic Capital and the renowned Olympic Museum is located by the Lake Geneva in Ouchy. This amazing museum is surrounded by the beatiful Olympic Park with an incredible view over the lake to the neighbouring Alps and France.

With over 3'000m2 over 3 levels, you can discover over 1500 objects themed around three majors topics : The Olympic Games (level 0) The Olympic World (level 1) and The Olympic Spirit (level -1). This is where you can know more about the skills required to be an Olympian and even test your own potential through interactive games!

Our special tip: before visiting this unique place, take time to eat a yummy brunch at Tom Café. The view is amazing and the buffet is endless! But don't forget to book a table in advance this place is pretty famous...
